Clearing the Clutter, Finding the Thread
A note on starting fresh and making space for what matters.
Dear friends,
I’ve spent the past few weeks clearing space — both digitally and emotionally — so I can begin again with more intention. After years of posting in so many different places (Facebook, blog, email, and more), I’ve decided to simplify. To bring my writing home.
This is that home.
Substack now holds my reflections — the ones I’ve always written from the quiet place inside. It’s where I’ll share thoughts on caregiving, change, grief, resilience, beauty, aging, and the many ways we evolve from the inside out.
What I know is this: midlife and beyond are not about winding down. They’re about listening more closely. Choosing more wisely. Shedding what no longer fits. And allowing space for what’s quietly waiting to bloom.
You’ll hear from me here every couple of weeks — sometimes a quote and reflection, sometimes a longer piece. Occasionally an update about a new book or offering.
I hope this becomes a space you’ll look forward to returning to — a place to breathe, reflect, and remember that you're not alone.
“I have been a seeker and I still am, but I stopped asking the books and the stars. I started listening to the teaching of my soul.”
— Rumi
I’ve read a thousand books, followed dozens of teachers, tried to gather all the wisdom I could carry — and still, the deepest truths come only when I’m quiet enough to listen inwardly.
Maybe that’s the gift of this season of life:
We no longer need to prove or perform.
We simply need to return.
To the quiet.
To the knowing.
To the thread that has been with us all along.
If you’re willing, I’d love to hear from you:
Where in your life are you beginning again?
What are you choosing to leave behind — or carry forward with more care?
Feel free to reply or share in the comments below. This is a quiet space for connection, not performance.
With warmth and gratitude,
Dorothy

I really appreciate the quote by Rumi. Feels fitting at this time of my life. Looking forward to your posts. And I ordered your book. Can’t wait to read it!
